FAQ of Spanish Learning Weekends in the UK

FAQ; Frequently Asked Questions

What does Full Immersion mean?

A full immersion experience means being completely surrounded by the target language and culture, encouraging constant interaction, often full days, practice, and learning in real-life contexts without relying on your native language.

What level are these retreats for?

Our retreats are designed for learners who already have some knowledge of Spanish, typically from upper beginner (A2) through to advanced (C1) level.

Most participants fall within the A2–B2 range, meaning they can understand and use basic Spanish in everyday situations, even if they don't feel fully confident speaking yet.

Advanced learners are also welcome, as activities and conversations can be adapted to provide appropriate challenge and engagement.

We keep our groups small, which allows us to tailor activities, conversation topics, and support to the needs of the participants attending each retreat.
The focus is on communication, confidence-building, and real-life language use rather than formal classroom-style learning.

If you're unsure of your level, please get in touch before booking.
We'll be happy to discuss your experience and help you decide whether the retreat is the right fit for you.

We are firm believers that his immersive approach will help you break through plateaus, achieve rapid progress, and build lasting confidence in your Spanish skills.

The session includes:

Two short breaks

One longer break around midday

Interactive activities and conversation practice throughout

After the Session
Group Lunch

We usually walk together to a nearby restaurant, where we enjoy food and drinks as a group. This social element is an important part of the experience, allowing participants to use Spanish in a more natural and spontaneous environment while getting to know fellow learners.

Finish Time
The day typically ends between 4:00 pm and 5:00 pm, depending on the group and the flow of activities.

Please note that timings may vary slightly from retreat to retreat, but the overall structure remains similar.

What if I have dietary restrictions?

All meals served during our retreats are vegetarian, with plenty of variety and generous portions to keep you well-fuelled throughout the weekend.

Before each retreat, you'll receive a short questionnaire where you can tell us about any dietary requirements, food intolerances, allergies, or preferences. Whether you're vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free, or have other specific needs, we'll do our best to accommodate them and adjust the menu accordingly.

If you have a severe allergy or a particularly complex dietary requirement, please contact us before booking so we can discuss your needs and ensure the retreat is a good fit for you.

What is included in the retreat package?

Depending on the experience, all of our retreats include Spanish lessons (6-20 hrs) with an experienced Native Spanish Teacher, cultural immersion, accommodation (at the residential retreats), lunch and/ or dinner, Spanish games and activities, outdoor activities such as self-guided hikes, excursions or town visits, etc.

Any additional perks will be outlined in the specific retreat itinerary.

Who is the teacher?

We work with various teachers, but all of them are Native Spanish Teachers with extensive experience in teaching this beautiful language for foreigners.

Read more about them HERE.

What types of accommodation are available?

During the residential retreats, our participants will stay in cosy countryside accommodations, characteristic of the Peak District. Most rooms are en-suite with twin zip-link beds, which can be converted into a double for single occupancy upon request for a small additional fee.
This option is ideal for those who prefer more privacy and may feel uneasy about sharing a room with a stranger.
During the Urban Retreats, participants are responsable to arrange their own accommodation. If needed, we can recommend options prior to the event.

Can I attend the retreat solo?

Absolutely! Many participants attend alone. The retreat fosters a welcoming, community atmosphere where it’s easy to make friends and feel comfortable.

How do I get to the retreat location?

The Peak District is easily accessible by train or car from major UK cities like Manchester, Leeds, Liverpool, York and Sheffield.  The Urban retreats happen in the city centre, close to a major train station with often paid car parking. We’ll provide detailed directions upon booking, and we can assist with transport logistics if needed.
You don't have to worry about anything :)

What is your cancellation policy?

Please refer to our website for detailed cancellation terms. We aim to be as flexible as possible but suggest travel insurance in case of unforeseen changes.

What if I am socially nervous?

We understand that arriving in a large group of strangers can feel daunting. To ease any nerves, you'll receive a welcome email upon signing up with all the key details, and you will be added to a private WhatsApp group.
This allows direct contact with the teacher and organiser, ensuring your questions and concerns are promptly addressed.

If you’re still feeling apprehensive, we also offer a commuter option. This allows you to join all activities during the day, including breakfast and dinner, while returning home to sleep in your own bed. It’s the perfect way to enjoy the immersive experience with added comfort and flexibility
